Distraction and Drugged Driving to Blame for Fatal Oklahoma Car Accident

by Staff

Each year, hundreds of thousands of motor vehicle collisions occur in the state of Oklahoma. Large portions of those accidents are caused by drivers who are intoxicated or distracted while behind the wheel. The Oklahoma Car Accident Lawyers with J. Colbert Injury Lawyers state that a crash that occurred last month in Oklahoma City was the result of both contributing factors.

An article from FOX 25 News claims the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 9, at the intersection of NE 10th Street and Standish. Reports indicate the 31-year-old driver of a vehicle was under the influence of drugs as he approached the intersection. Just before reaching the crossing he looked down at his phone and, while distracted, plowed into the rear-end of a vehicle being driven by a 27-year-old man.

The impact of the collision claimed the driver of the stopped car’s life. The driver responsible for the crash was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence as well as causing an accident without a license.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks posed by driving while intoxicated or distracted. J. Colbert and his team of Oklahoma Personal Injury Lawyers are aware of these dangers and would like to send their deepest sympathies to the family of the man who was recently killed.
