One Person Killed in Oklahoma Truck Accident

Early this morning a truck driver was killed when his tractor-trailer collided with a bridge pillar while traveling on Interstate 40 near Shawnee. All lanes of Interstate 40 were closed after the Oklahoma truck crash. The driver’s name hasn’t been released yet. 

Around 5 a.m. later the same day near the earlier accident, which again resulted in the temporary closure of the interstate.

Oklahoma Auto Accident Results in Fatal Injury

January 29, 2008 

Last Sunday parts of Highway were closed for more than four hours after four vehicles were involved in an Oklahoma auto accident after heavy fog settled in the area. According to reports, a tractor trailer was turning left onto Highway 75 when a pickup truck struck the larger truck. The driver of the tractor trailer called 911 immediately after the Oklahoma car crash, and while doing so two more cars struck the large truck. 

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene while the two drivers and a passenger were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer didn’t sustain injuries.

Oklahoma Auto Accident Results in Teen’s Death

Earlier this week a woman who was accused of drunken driving and causing an Oklahoma auto accident, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old passenger. The woman, who has a prior conviction for an alcohol-related driving incident, was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The passenger who was killed in the Oklahoma car crash was seated in the backseat when the woman began speeding in Pawnee County. Once she lost control of the car, it slid, ran off the road, overturned, and ejected all occupants, according to reports.

State Lawmakers Consider Placing DUI Convictions on Licenses to Help Prevent Oklahoma Auto Accidents

January 15, 2008

Rep. Scott Inman is on a mission to help prevent alcohol-related Oklahoma auto accidents by requiring anyone who has past DUI or DWI convictions to be required to have it noted on their drivers’ licenses. The reason is so bartenders and waiters will know who has a history of drinking and driving while intoxicated. Inman proposes that the notations remain on licenses for four years and can then be removed if that person has not received additional drunk-driving citations.

Inman noted the problem of driving under the influence of alcohol and the resulting Oklahoma car crashes are a serious statewide problem.

Car chase leads to 11 injured in Tulsa car accident

November 27, 2007

11 people were injured in a Tulsa car accident involving two vehicles during a police chase, reported the Tulsa World. Police said the driver of a stolen SUV was fleeing from the police when he collided with another car.

The OnStar system in the SUV that was stolen alerted police at 3 p.m. of the theft, and police pulled the driver over on South U.S. 169. While the officer waited on backup officers, the driver sped off. The driver caused the Oklahoma car accident when he ran a red light and smashed into a car in the intersection.

A crosswalk sign was knocked down and the SUV came to rest in a ditch after rolling three times. All 11 Tulsa auto accident victims were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Officer critically injured in Oklahoma car accident

November 20, 2007

The Oklahoman reported that an off-duty deputy was hospitalized in critical condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center after a one-car Oklahoma auto accident. According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, speed and alcohol were both factors in the car accident.

The 35-year-old deputy was placed in an induced coma after suffering a broken back and potentially a broken neck. The driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a road sign, which caused his car to flip over twice, coming to rest upside down. The driver was thrown 42 feet from the vehicle in the Oklahoma auto accident.

Two dead, one injured in Oklahoma auto accident

November 16, 2007

An Oklahoma car accident killed two people Thursday in a two-vehicle collision, according to the Tulsa World. The auto accident happened about 2:30 p.m. when the SUV they were in crossed the center line and hit another SUV head-on.

The two Oklahoma auto accident victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was flown to Norman Regional Hospital to be treated for his car accident injuries. He suffered head, arm, and leg injuries according to troopers.

One killed, another injured in Oklahoma auto accident

A 77-year-old man died Monday night in an Oklahoma auto accident, according to the Tulsa World. He was driving on the highway around 6:15 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, and hit another car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene from his Oklahoma car accident injuries. He suffered a head injury and was pinned beneath the vehicle for nearly two hours in heavy rain. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor auto accident injuries at a hospital and released.

Four injured in Oklahoma auto accident

November 9, 2007

The Daily Ardmorite reported that four people were hurt in a two-vehicle Oklahoma auto accident Wednesday night. The 65-year-old driver of a pickup pulled out in front of another pickup, which caused the car accident.

Wilson Volunteer Fire Department members were the first responders and pulled one Oklahoma car accident victim from a vehicle. All four auto accident injury victims were transported to Mercy Memorial Medical Center and listed in stable condition.

Two lives taken in two Oklahoma City motorcycle accidents

November 6, 2007

Two separate Oklahoma City motorcycle accidents claimed the lives of two men on Sunday, according to The Oklahoman. The first Oklahoma motorcycle accident happened when an SUV struck a motorcyclist on N Pennsylvania Avenue. The motorcycle accident victim died at the scene.

The second accident happened around 11 p.m. when a couple on a motorcycle collided with a traffic light pole. The man died at the scene while the female motorcycle accident victim was taken to OU Medical Center in serious condition. Police have not yet determined the cause of the accident.
