Ardmore

Ardmore was founded in the summer of 1887 when the Santa Fe Railroad was constructed. Since that time, the city has remained a hub of transportation in southern Oklahoma, and is considered the largest trade center in a 10-county radius.

The city’s location on the “sunny side” of the Arbuckle Mountains makes it rich in oil, which is why the extraction, mining, and refining industries employ a large number of Ardmore’s residents. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the mining and refining industries as among the riskiest lines of work in the country, so it comes as no surprise Ardmore sees a high number of workplace injuries each year, including many workers who suffer oil field injuries.
