Workers in the construction industry face a number of on-the-job hazards each day; however, one of the greatest risks is posed by objects and equipment on a job site. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that last year alone, accidents caused by objects and equipment were responsible for roughly 15 percent of all workplace fatalities.
The Oklahoma Construction Accident Lawyers with J. Colbert Injury Lawyers explain that more recently, a 36-year-old worker was killed recently when he was run over by a piece of equipment. Reports indicate the incident occurred Saturday, November 2, in a wooded area outside of Jones, Oklahoma.
According to an article from KFOR 4 News, the victim and another man were using a Bobcat skid loader to clear the area where they were working. As the men worked, the victim got too close to the piece of equipment and was run over when the Bobcat operator’s view became obstructed.
Emergency responders were called to the site, but the victim died at the scene before aid could be rendered.
J. Colbert and his team of Oklahoma Personal Injury Lawyers are aware of the risks that those working in the construction industry face each day on the job. That is why the firm would like to send their deepest sympathies to the family of the man who was killed in this most recent tragic accident.
